Michon & Tim's wedding celebration at the gardiner house was one for the books
Photographing weddings and celebrations — in all their forms — still holds deep meaning for me, even after decades of doing it.
What keeps it so special are the stories. Everyone has one — unique journeys, shaped by love, loss, joy, and sorrow in ways as individual as the people themselves.
Michon and Tim's story deeply moved me. Both had lost their life partners. How do you begin again after such profound loss? It seems almost impossible. And yet, they did — not by erasing the past, but by honoring it.
Their wedding wasn’t about starting fresh in a way that forgets; it was about carrying love forward. They embraced the memory of their former spouses as an essential part of their union by lighting a candle for each of them. The ceremony was filled with raw emotion — grief and gratitude existing side by side. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. I didn’t know such complex feelings could coexist so powerfully, but in that room, they did — and everyone felt it. I still get goosebumps looking at the pictures captured.
The love was palpable. I saw it in the eyes of their grown children — the pain of loss, yes, but also the joy of seeing their parents find companionship again. Not walking the rest of the journey alone, but with someone who understands, who has been there, too.
It was a profound reminder of the resilience of the human heart, and it was truly an honor to capture those moments for them.
After the ceremony, the room was overflowing with love and laughter — the kind that only happens when every single person is fully present, showing up not just to witness, but to truly celebrate life, love, and a beautiful new beginning.
Congratulations, Michon and Tim. Wishing you and your families nothing but joy, connection, and the very best life has to offer from here on out.
