My favorite venues in New England
The possibilities to celebrate your wedding day in New England are endless. Cozy, classy, romantic on the water, water views... you name it.
Here are some of my favorites I would like to share with you. If you are up for it and you trust us, we can create some magic together in all these wonderful places.
WHAT MAKES A PERFECT PHOTOGRAPH AND IS THERE SUCH A THING?
Seeing light, knowing where to find it and how to use it to my advantage
Once you see light, it is impossible to unsee it!
It is a part of my daily life, wherever I go I notice it shifting from sunrise to sunset, little glimpses of change highlighting a scene in front of my eyes. Yes, that is the moment when I am cursing myself not having a camera handy. Happens all the time while driving on a highway, chauffeuring the kids or getting gas at the gas station. Life is busy and moments fleed by so fast and if you don't have a camera in your hand, you most likely will miss it. But they are there and it is like an obsession to capture them all.
And sometimes you don't have light because of a cloudy or rainy day. What now? No need to panic!
If there isn't any, we'll make it and if there is too much of it, like 2pm session on a Sunday afternoon in August, we navigate it and use it to our advantage.
That's the secret ingredient and super power which only comes with years and years of experience and ultimately trial and error along the way.
Compositions and different angles make the world more interesting
This is your day and it is about you guys, you are the center of the day and I am beyond grateful for your trust in me and having me being a part of your big day.
My goal is to tell your story in a clean and powerful way with the least amount of distractions in the photographs. Clean lines, architectural features if available and different perspectives. We all see different things and life looks different from wherever we stand. Who wants "normal"? Normal is boring. I am excited to tell your story.
Most important to me - capturing your authentic moments, as many as possible during your celebration
The true power of a photograph lies in catching the moment when it happens, without interruptions. That makes it authentic.
If I wouldn't have captured this moment, they would have forgotten about it right away. How do I know? They told me!
It happened so fast after the father saw his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress. He saw her, embraced her and gave a quick kiss. Her reaction, tears running down her face.
She wiped them away in a hurry, not wanting to loose it completely. Such a meaningful moment between a father and his daughter.
This was a dark bedroom with a single ceiling light were they happened to stand under, so I could expose for the light and capture this amazing moment for them. I knew right away, this was a great one. It is a treat seeing this beautiful moment unfold in front of me but when I saw it on my computer screen, the true nature of their relationship came to light. This is impossible to stage.
Anticipation of a moment takes a lot of experience. Is it rocket science to think something magical can happen during such an important moment, no, not at all. But knowing where to be in that moment is fueled by experience and honestly, lots of missed ones or not as great ones because of timing, my location at that particular moment, so many ways to fail.
Being in the right spot at the right time is nothing you can teach. Being critical enough about myself and my work, wanting to improve and doing better next time got me where I needed to be to take this photo for them.
Some might call it luck and there is probably some truth to it, What is luck? My definition is: Knowledge meets opportunity!
The photo gods aligned and you get another chance to capture something special. It feels awesome and it makes me happy being able to capture this authentic moment for them.
I want to get to know you, because I care and ... because sometimes I will be this close
Having a good relationship with my couples is high on the list for me. Our chemistry has to be right, we need to develop trust, no wedding day is perfect and this is a team effort to make it a success! That's why I would love to hear your story.
How did you meet? Who proposed and how?
What you do for fun? What do you love about each other most? Are you foodies? Adventure seekers? Travelers? Pet peeves, the whole nine yards.
It gives me a glimpse into your life together and who you are and, because I genuinely care!
By the time your event comes along, I am more a friend with a camera versus a stranger, and that is a game changer for the cause of a wedding day and creating magic will actually be fun, even the posed portraits!
