That's exactly how it felt stepping onto the Cliff Walk in Newport on the morning Sara and Kristian chose to make it official, just the two of them, the Atlantic stretching out endlessly below, and the kind of golden sun that feels almost conspiratorial in its timing.

They didn't need a ballroom or a crowd of two hundred. They needed the wind off the water, each other's hands, and a few words that mattered. Newport's Cliff Walk delivered on every count. The breeze kept things lively — hair moving, laughter surfacing at just the right moments — and the ocean did what the ocean always does: made everything feel both very small and very significant at the same time.

Officiating the ceremony was Mike Egan of Heavenly Weddings, who has a remarkable gift for making vows feel like a genuine conversation rather than a recitation. The words he helped Sara and Kristian exchange felt earned, personal, and real — exactly what an elopement deserves. No fuss. No performance. After the ceremony, we wandered — and wandering together through Newport with a couple newly wed is one of this photographer's great privileges. Our first stop was the International Tennis Hall of Fame, a place Sara and Kristian's are always drawn to. The grounds are stunning in their own right, all that classic Newport architecture and open courts, but what made it sing was what it meant to them. We finished the afternoon down at Bowen's Wharf, Newport's beloved waterfront landmark, where the harbor hums and the city feels alive.
