Thirty Years Behind the Camera. One New Way to Use Them.
For three decades, I've been Stefy Hilmer, photographing life's biggest moments in an honest, documentary style, weddings, families, the kind of days people want to remember exactly as they happened. Somewhere along the way, I kept noticing the same thing: the animals in those photos were never just background. They were the ones getting the biggest reaction when the gallery went live.
Vantage Studio is what happens when thirty years of studio-quality portrait work meets the one subject that's always stolen the show.
Why "The Studio Comes to You"
A true studio portrait has always meant one thing: driving your pet or horse somewhere else, into somewhere unfamiliar, under someone else's lights. For a lot of animals, that's stressful before the camera ever comes out, an anxious car ride, a waiting room full of strangers, a space that smells like everyone else's pets but their own.
So I flipped it. Vantage Studio brings the studio to you: the backdrop, the dramatic lighting, the same fine-art finish you'd get walking into a professional space, set up in your backyard, your driveway, or your barn aisle. Anywhere in Southern Rhode Island. Your pet or horse gets the portrait without ever leaving the place they feel most like themselves.
And if a posed studio look isn't what you're after, that's just as welcome here. Plenty of sessions happen at the beach, out on the farm, or wherever your animal is naturally at ease, no backdrop, no setup, just the moment as it happens.
What You Actually Walk Away With
I've never loved the idea of a photo session that ends in a folder of digital files nobody prints. Every Vantage Studio session is built around a different goal: a portrait that's actually made for your wall. With Shoot & Select sessions, you'll even preview your images on the spot and choose your favorite pose, frame, and size before you leave, so there's no second-guessing a gallery of thumbnails later.
Dogs and Horses, Photographed Right
Vantage Studio is built around the two animals people love most and photograph least well: dogs and horses. Backyard dog portraits, barn-aisle equine sessions, both get the same studio-quality standard behind them.
Southern Rhode Island's coastline, farms, and backyards are the backdrop. Your dog or horse is the subject. I'd love to meet them.
